Harmonized Tariff Schedule Codes: What and When They Are Needed

Effective March 1, 2023, changes to European Union (EU) customs regulations, require additional steps, including the use of a 6-digit Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code, for third-party shipments destined for or passing through any of the the EU countries, plus Northern Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland.  

These changes, known as Import Control System 2, will require additional steps, including the use of a 6-digit Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code, for third-party shipments destined for or passing through any of the the EU countries, plus Northern Ireland, Norway, and Switzerland.
