AggieSurplus Terms & Conditions

AggieSurplus Terms and Conditions

Buying Terms

  • Most items will be immediately available for public sale upon arrival at AggieSurplus.

  • Sale Offers: Can be made by emailing aggiesurplus@ucdavis.edu  Items will still be available on the online marketplace when offers are being considered.

  • All items are sold “as is, where is”.

  • Items listed on the online marketplace are available on a first come/first served basis.

  • AggieSurplus reserves the right to accept or reject bids on each item separately, or as a whole, and to waive any bid irregularities.

  • In addition to the AggieSurplus online marketplace, GovDeals will be used to sell larger items, and those with potentially more value.

  • All sales are final.

  • When purchasing in-person, items must be removed at the time of purchase, unless other arrangements are made.  When purchasing through the online marketplace, the purchaser is obligated to pick up purchased property within five (5) business days of the sale transaction.  The purchaser will receive an email within one (1) business day of the purchase to schedule an appointment to pick up the item(s).
    • If the purchased property is not picked up, or alternative arrangements made to the university's satisfaction within five (5) business days, AggieSurplus has the right to cancel the transaction, restock the item(s), and charge the purchaser a service charge of 15% of the purchase price, or $5.00, whichever is greater.

Forms of Payment

Only the following forms of payment are accepted:

  • Credit cards (Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover®)
  • Procurement Card (for official campus departmental purchases)
  • There will no longer be in-person sales while shopping at Aggie Surplus.  All sales will be done through the online marketplace; credit cards are the only accepted form of payment.  When shopping in-store, AggieSurplus staff will provide support with sale transactions.

Phone Sales

  • Phone sales are no longer available.

Shipping

Bids and Offers

  • When shopping online, offers can be emailed to aggiesurplus@ucdavis.edu  AggieSurplus will respond to your offer as soon as possible, up to 3 business days.  During this time, the item can still be purchased at asking price.
  • If more than one customer is interested in purchasing the same item on the day that it becomes available for public sale, the item will immediately be placed up for sealed bid and will be sold to the highest bidder.

Selling Terms

  • AggieSurplus service fee features a tiered rate. The percentage listed is AggieSurplus’ fee with the remaining amount credited to the selling department:
    • Tier A  $0 - $250.99  100%
    • Tier B  $251 – 1,000.99  50%
    • Tier C  $1,001 – 10,001  25%
    • Tier D  over $10,001  5%
  • Oversized items, or those weighing 250 pounds or more, are generally left in the selling department and will be listed on the GovDeals auction website.  A list of these items will usually be displayed at the AggieSurplus store.  Potential buyers will be referred to the selling department’s contact person to arrange viewing of the item.
  • Selling departments are to direct potential buyers to AggieSurplus for all issues related to a potential sale. Selling departments may provide technical information about the item to a potential buyer, but they should not negotiate a sale. This avoids the appearance of a conflict of interest and ensures that multiple offers are handled appropriately.
  • Unsold items "abandoned" by selling departments (i.e., no response within 14 calendar days of a disposition letter or AggieSurplus inquiry) will be sold for any reasonable offer, or recycled. Any expenses incurred will be recharged to the department.

Salvage Terms (unmarketable items)

Even when an item is not marketable, AggieSurplus can handle disposal for your department.

  • AggieSurplus coordinates with Special Services to pick-up unmarketable items at a rate of $18.25 per quarter hour (per person). See the Storage and Pick-up Tips for ways to keep your disposal costs down.
  • Departments who want to drop off their own salvage items can do so by initiating a Service Request and noting they would like to drop off their items. Departments may still incur a service fee depending on the size of delivery and time spent handling product and completing associated paperwork (i.e. Asset Retirement Documents).
