UC Community Advised Against Non-Essential Travel to MENA Region

In response to an escalating security risk within the Middle East North Africa (MENA) Region, the UC community is advised to avoid all non-essential travel to that area.

In a statement issued Oct. 20, 2023, Nathan Brostrom, UC Executive Vice President and CFO, and Kevin Confetti, UC Associate Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, noted that the heightened risk in the MENA Region, along with concern for the health and safety of UC students, faculty and staff, led to the directive.

The advisory includes resources for evaluating the risk of specific travel locations as well as guidance for reducing vulnerability during civil unrest.
