A Message Regarding the Vet Med3B Self-Serve Supply Center

Dear Scientific Store Customers,

In response to low sales, Supply Chain Management recently requested feedback on the Vet Med 3B Self-Serve Supply Center as part of a larger UC Davis Scientific Store survey.

Responses indicated that the Health Sciences District is not a convenient location for many campus researchers. Other data indicates that researchers in that area are using AggieBuy to order items and have them delivered, rather than using the Supply Center kiosks, which currently include Helix/Promega, Life Technologies, NEB and Bio-Rad products.

At this time, Bio-Rad has decided to close the on-site supply center due to lowered usage. Bio-Rad products will still be available from the scientific store at Haring hall and on AggieBuy. Any questions about the Bio-Rad supply center and products can be directed to your local Account Manager, Maggie Tam at Maggie_Tam@Bio-Rad.com. The Bio-Rad kiosk will be removed from VM3B in January.

We are pleased to announce that UC Davis and Promega have entered our first agreement. Promega will move its Supply Center to Haring Hall to better support customers with faster order fulfillment. Promega will soon expand the product offering online through the Scientific Store catalog on AggieBuy.

We would appreciate if you could encourage those in your department who would benefit from the easy access and instant availability of the remaining kiosks to visit the Supply Center and take a moment to register to use them. Our survey indicates that those who do use the kiosks find them to be especially convenient, particularly for last-minute needs. The continued availability of these kiosks depends on increased usage.

  • Life Technologies: Register at the kiosk or online.
  • NEB: Register at the kiosk

Please note that the future of the Supply Center will have no impact on the availability of dry ice. The School of Veterinary Medicine will continue to provide dry ice at this location.

Our suppliers want to ensure that they are serving the UC Davis research community in the best way possible. We would greatly appreciate if you could also let your department know that we are seeking feedback on ways to improve the Supply Center. Please email us with thoughts on the center at scientificstore@ucdavis.edu.

Thank you,
Julie Alvarez
