Some food purchases are acceptable outside of Travel and Entertainment policies.
These include but not limited to:
The acceptability of a food purchase outside of the Travel/Entertainment realm depends on the business purpose of the food purchase:
- Research Purposes: Food can be purchased in AggieBuy if being used for a study or other research purposes (not simply for human or animal consumption). If not available in AggieBuy, food for these purposes can purchased on a Procurement Card.
- Common Area: Food that is to be provided in a waiting room for customers or patients, or for a common work space, such as a break room, can be purchased in AggieBuy. If not available in AggieBuy, food for these purposes can purchased on a Procurement Card.
An unacceptable food purchase would include:
- Specific Event: This includes events, such as one for incoming graduate students, or a reception for donors. Food for these events should not be purchased in AggieBuy or on a Procurement Card. In this case, it’s generally considered “entertainment,” and the entertainment policies and procedures should be followed.
Questions regarding AggieBuy should be directed to the AggieBuy Help Desk.
