How to Make a Bleach Solution
Needed Ingredients:
- 5 tablespoons (1/3 cup) bleach per gallon of water, OR 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
Directions:
- Wear PPE: Safety Glasses, gloves, lab coat with apron
- Pour all ingredients into a mixing container, beaker or bowl
- Pour contents into a spray bottle for application to surfaces
- 1 minute contact time before wiping excess
- Label the container: Bleach Solution, Corrosive, Responsible Party, Date Prepared
- Bleach solutions will be effective for disinfection up to 24 hours. Read the CDC guidelines for more information.
How to Make an Alcohol Solution
Needed Ingredients:
- 70% alcohol, ethanol (EtOH) or isopropanol (IPA)
- spray container
Directions:
Wear PPE: Safety Glasses, gloves, lab coat with apron
- Pour contents into a spray bottle for application to surfaces

How to Make a Hand Sanitizer Solution
Needed Ingredients:
- ¾ cup of isopropyl (IPA) alcohol
- ¼ cup aloe vera gel
- 10 drops of fragrance or lemon juice
Directions:
- Wear PPE: Safety Glasses, gloves, lab coat with apron
- Pour all ingredients into a mixing container or bowl
- Mix with spatula, then beat with a whisk to emulsify the mixture
- Pour the mixture into an empty squeeze bottle for use
- Label the container: Alcohol Solution, Contains Isopropyl Alcohol, Flammable
